It was the face to face meeting of Roger and Dixie. It was a surprising moment for all two. Different known and unknown faces are all around them. They were very shy to have a close-up. They were close by but no movement. It was not appreciated by most of the guests. The couple was also fumbling what to do , what to say and above all , what to serve. If a sumptuous menu is served to start the celebration it may look awkward again, if two or three drops fall on their dresses the whole day's sport will be spoiled.
So they decided to start the celebration by ordering in a large chunk of delicious cake. The cake was a three tier one. As a matter of fun they decided the uppermost tier for the bride, the middle one for the groom and the base for the guests. It was the decision of the elder ones present at the wedding party. The younger wanted to know the cause. The elders explained that the bride is a newcomer to the new life of the groom and both of their lives are subject to change from this precious moment. So the tier next to the bride is for the groom.
The elders also reasoned that on the wedding day the bride does not eat that much and the third tier is the smallest. The bride eats moderately so, for him the second tier is the ideal and the guest make merry to celebrate the feast; they are large in number so they should take the largest chunk of the wedding cake. Thus the starting silence, embarrassment and hesitation turned into frolic, merrymaking and a great understanding. The couple was ready to cut the cake and the celebration turned to be a remarkable one. How graceful is a wedding cake!
